During this time of lockdown people are not used to being stuck in their homes 24/7 with every member of their family. It can be a frustrating time of tempers flaring, and divorce proceedings are already taking place because of it.
The Scriptures have an answer for everything in our lives, even ‘lockdown’.
“A quarrel is like opening a floodgate, so stop before the dispute breaks out” (Proverbs 17:14).
Another translation: “ABANDON the quarrel before it breaks out” . .
In other words, keep quiet, or that simple trickle of disagreement will develop into a flood that will be unstoppable and will wreck everything that may never be recovered when the flood – or lockdown is over! It may be hard to do! But it won’t be as hard as trying to re-gain what you once had.
“Better a dry morsel and quietness than a house full of feasting with strife” (Proverbs 17:1).
“Even a fool when he keeps silent, is considered wise” (Proverbs 17:28),
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger” (Proverbs 15:1).
“Everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak“ (James 1:19).
I am talking to myself too! Not talking to myself literally – but that may not be a bad thing – King David talked to his soul! (Psalm 42:11,12).
We are told these days to ‘talk’ to ‘communicate’ to ‘speak about it’, but sometimes it is more spiritually beneficial to tell only your soul about some things. I’ve proved it does work!
God bless. Christine.
