We are living in ‘Post Truth’ days? And Satan is loving it.
Satan is the Father of lies, and hates truth, and this new era of ‘Post-Truth’ has Satan all over it.
Satan told the first lie in the Garden of Eden that triggered ‘dying’ “You will not die” (Genesis 3:4).
It’s Christmas time. And it was that first lie in the Garden of Eden, that caused God to humbly descend from the glory of heaven in the form of a baby, to cancel out that curse. So it’s no surprise that God hates lies.
‘Facts’ and ‘truth’ is making people angry.
Collins dictionary definition of truth: Not facts. Things imagined or invented.
The opposite of truth: Falsehood.
‘Feelings’ don’t change facts. I am all for not hurting anyone’s feelings, and I truly believe in being nice, well mannered, and respectful to people and wish we could see more of it. But if it means having to lie, count me out. I may feel like a ‘bear with a sore head’ one day – but I am still not a bear. But you would have to comply if I so wished ‘for my mental health’ (which would not be doing me a favour in the long run) or face serious consequences in these ‘post-truth’ days.
So what does a Christian do? Lie and please the devil? “Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with it’s evil practises” (Colossians 3:9).
Lying in the Scriptures is a serious sin, because “Satan is the Father of lies” (John 8:44 ).
“Stand firm, having girded your loins with truth” (Ephesians 6:14).
This ‘gird’ of truth is linked to the Word of God. Truth is truth not what anyone prefers truth to be – or we’d have ‘everyone’s truth.’
An example is how Christians are happily going to church with ‘their own particular’ ‘truth’ tucked under their arm – a Bible according to their ‘truth.’ A Bible that has eliminated ‘a truth‘ they just didn’t like. But God’s word does not change because someone chokes on ‘a truth‘.
Bibles that are read on an app will gradually be ‘altered’ until ‘certain ‘truths’ have disappeared from them. A hard-copy Bible is the only way to know that your Bible is not being ‘tampered’ with by the ‘principalities and powers of the air’ who don’t like certain truths!
This ‘belt of truth’ in Ephesians should be worn at all times. This belt of ‘truth’ is where a vital tool of defence is kept: a defense against the lies and deception of the enemy. When lies are repeated long enough people believe them, and then truth to them becomes lies! In other words ‘deceived’.
If you don’t want to be ‘brainwashed’ by the lies of the world keep your belt of ‘truth’ around you, and read only a hard-copy of the Bible to be certain that ‘God’s truth’ is still there in it every time you read it! (in our house we stock-pile Bibles for when Bibles are banned and are only available ‘online’ making it easier for ‘truths’ to be eliminated).
Many are having to apologise for ‘truth’ now, like the Bishop when he said there was no Santa Clause and that the colour red and red clothes worn/portrayed at Christmas time were invented by Coco Cola, which is true. But there was such an uproar that the Bishop had to apologise for the ‘truth’ .
But beware… truth will cost you friends, and even make you some enemies!
Jesus said: “Have I become your enemy by telling you the truth? (Galatians 4:16).
‘Itching ear’syndrome’ is upon us, and is when people seek a church or a preacher that will condone a particular lifestyle, regardless of Scripture: “They will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires“ (2 Timothy 4:3).
‘Forget ‘truth’ they say – we want lies! Lies make us feel holy, good, happy, and never convict of anything.
Self caters to the flesh. A last day sign is ‘lovers of self.’
We are living in a day of little ‘dictators’ but who have big voices, who are not satisfied by just having one brain, but they want ours too. You will have to ‘comply’ and sacrifice your own brain for ‘their ‘truth’ if not to be a lonesome Christian.
“He seeks those who worship Him in truth” (John 4:23). But how can we ‘worship Him ‘in truth’ if we have lying lips?
“Buy truth and do not sell it” (Proverbs 23:22).
Sell it for what? For acceptance. Not to be seen as unloving. Not to be termed as a killjoy. Not to lose friends. Not to be called behind-the times. It will take some courage these days to put on your ‘gird’ of truth every day!
The aim of the ‘angel in sheep’s clothing‘ is to make something bad seem noble and something wrong seem loving.
When Satan can get us to ‘smile’ and feel ‘comfortable’ around something that in the past would be called – ‘sin’ – he knows it is the first step towards acceptance of it, “That which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God” (Luke 16:15).
Scripture shows that Jesus did not love everything or everyone. But people want a God of their preference, an imaginary God in accordance with ‘their truth.’ I witness it all the time. You can always tell when someone is not reading God’s word for themselves, or is reading it on an already corrupted app, because they have ‘their own special God’ – one who never ‘offends’ or ‘convicts’.
But ‘truth’ does offend and convict, hence a ‘2 edged sword’. And without ‘truth’ who can be saved and washed in the blood of the Lamb? These days there is nothing to be ‘saved from’ as there is no such thing as ‘sin’ anymore. Truth has been airbrushed. That is the seriousness of Post Truth days.
“Truthful lips will be established forever” (Proverbs 12:19).
“Jerusalem will be called ‘The City of Truth'” (Zechariah 8:3).
“And no lie was found in their mouth; they are blameless” (Revelation 14:5).
God bless. Christine.
